Lubricating oil selection

Lubricating oil selection

Lubricant Selection Guide

Before commissioning the gear unit, it must be filled with a lubricant of the appropriate viscosity. Correct lubrication reduces friction between the gears and helps the gear unit perform reliably under high loads and impact loads.

After approximately the first 200 operating hours, drain the initial lubricant, clean the gear unit thoroughly and refill it with fresh lubricant to the centre of the oil-level indicator. An oil level that is too high or too low may cause the operating temperature to rise.

For detailed procedures, please refer to the relevant installation, operation and maintenance instructions supplied with the gear unit.

Important: The information above is a general selection reference. The lubricant specified on the gear unit nameplate, technical documentation or operation manual should always take priority. Contact our technical support team if you are unsure which lubricant is suitable for your operating conditions.
